Gotcha - they are pretty different games, and next to something like Dragon Age or Mass Effect (Bioware's later projects) they are a bit dated, but I think they still stand as very solid games, especially if you're also a D&D player.
I loved the first (especially the expansions; Deekin + Valen is just too damn much fun), but I totally fell in love with the second. That one inspired my tattoo, and my first major, novel-length fanfic!
Oddly, I am currently running a D&D campaign set shortly after NWN2, which build on both games' stories....
