Procedurally Generated Fandom Friend-Seeking Post
Hello community! I have made posts probably more than most users here. I don't subscribe to the community because it tends to be very boom and bust, and back when I did on another account it was sort of weirdly discouraging to have it be the majority of my reading page even when I wasn't actually making any friends. My experience on dreamwidth has gotten a lot better, and I have been thinking about my social media presence in general in the meantime. I am settling in to using dreamwidth, and I am developing some healthy distance from twitter, I think. (tumblr went the healthy-distance way a long time ago, though I do still technically have one.)
I have added a few people from the first few posts I saw in scrolling, because it is my belief that if you're going to make a post/write a fic/whatever and expect feedback that you ought to give at least some effort in kind. That said, I don't know that I have gone through every post since the last time I was here, so don't feel off-put if I didn't add you and you see this!
So for the form-letter part of this post:
Name: Prix
Age: 28
Country: USA but currently in Japan until December 14th.
Subscription/Access Policy: I usually subscribe and grant access in-kind to whatever you do if you add me first. So far, I don't really have any access-locked posts, but I do plan to use it in the future for anything that I think contains identifying information or which I would like to restrict broader access to. For example, I'm thinking about posting some meta-posts that will be dreamwidth-exclusive because I might want to try formulating them into a more polished format to be pitched to sites that might pay me for rambling in the future. It's an unlikely dream but a precaution I might take. I haven't decided. You can subscribe at any age, but I guess I'll elect to not grant access to minors. Pay attention to the age-restriction tag if it's there and any in-text warnings. They're rare but they happen.
Main Fandoms (at the moment): Doctor Who, Good Omens
Other Fandoms (just as likely to be main fandoms some months from now; I'm very cyclical): Agents of SHIELD, MCU, CW DCTV/Arrowverse, Fate/stay night (Type Moon), YuGiOh DM, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, The Society (Netflix series), The 100, Star Wars, ATLA, Steins;Gate/Robotics;Notes, Young Justice, Young Avengers, Carmilla, Skins (UK) S1-S4, Narnia (especially the movies/headcanon), The Hunger Games (I don't hate the movies but I want a new film/tv series in the future), Leverage, The Librarians, White Collar, and probably others I'm not listing at the moment.
Fannish Interests: I write fanfic when I can summon the concentration. I would say that I self-identify as a fic-writer more than anything else within the fandom ecosystem. I would like to write more extended efforts, but in recent times adulting and other more draining social media have gotten in the way. I hope that continued dreamwidth usage will help me with that!
I also make icons and other graphics. (I used to make gifsets on tumblr, but I haven't been able to make them lately. Plus I got tired of the low-effort engagement involved.)
I really want to get back into making fanvids, too. I made them on a sort of script-extended version of Windows Movie Maker back in high school and early university, but I haven't made any for years. I have started to make strides toward doing it again, though! I am excited to continue in the near future.
I like to write meta, too.
Basically anything that allows me to do creative commentary and I'm there. Some people say they lurk too much. If anything, I have the opposite problem. I feel skittish if I am not being productive in fandom in a way that may or may not be healthy. I honestly need to work on simply reading others' fic and watching others' vids without it causing me to feel like I am falling down on some self-defined job that I don't actually have.
OTPs and Ships (a smattering; I multi- and poly-ship often):
Under a cut because it seems long??? If you are interested in specifics read. If not, just know I ship Everything and in various intensities including some ~problematic~ things but mostly not. Biggest content warning is that in a handful of fandoms I have some sibling-incest ships. I tag and warn to high heaven if it comes up because I know it squicks some people out seriously, but depending on context I don't automatically condemn it because the world is weird and people are strange ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Seriously, though, this comes up like a few times a year at most and I'm usually pretty normal about ships.

Other Interests: I like listening to music, both popular and showtunes from musicals (I wasn't sure if I should list it as a fandom but lately have been watching Crazy Ex-Girlfriend). I want to get into crocheting and guitar more than I have in the past. I have dabbled. I love dogs. I am interested in religious studies and my own self-knowledge and faith which I mention sometimes but not in a way that seeks to convert anyone against their wishes. I am pro-LGBT rights (bi myself haha). I am generally progressive in my politics, but sometimes my hardcore leftist friends don't think I'm far-left enough. However, I am compassionate and willing to listen when people think I'm wrong. I generally avoid political discourse on my blog here because twitter is exhausting enough, but I am interested in political philosophy, food justice, and economic justice in particular.
I'm weirdly addicted to true crime media.
