New to DW, old to fandom

Name: Mscatmoon, Cat Moon, Peruvian Gypsy, Pfrain Ryder
Age: old geezer
Country: USA
Subscription/Access Policy: Over 18, I'm an adult and I reserve the right to discuss adult topics

Main Fandoms: The Sentinel, Starsky & Hutch, Quantum Leap, Moonlight, Torchwood
Other fandom/shows I read and/or write:  Blake's 7, Riptide, Hardcastle & McCormick, Sherlock, Veronica Mars, Alias Smith & Jones, Miami Vice.

Fannish Interests: reading, writing.  Most of my fic is on AO3, over 200 stories.   I love discussing my shows, but seems like these days all people want to do is one line on Twitter.  Slash mainly but I don't discriminate.
OTPs and Ships: Jim/Blair, Sam/Al, Mick/Beth, Starsky/Hutch, Jack/Ianto.  I also like me some Blake/Avon, Crockett/Tubbs, Veronica/Lily, Sherlock/John, Cody/Nick...

Favourite Movies: Star Trek.  I'm not much into movies.
TV Shows:  See above.  But in addition to my fannish shows, I like the weirdo so-called reality shows to complete my fantasy escape: Destination Truth, Expedition Unknown, Ancient Aliens... the weirder the better.
Books: Fanzines, and non fiction
Music: Kiss, Poison, Alt Rock, Nickelback, Daughtry, etc.

Other Info: I'm an old timer, and I like the old time fannish shows of the 80s and 90s, even the 70s.  I've tried to find a current show that grabs me with the same passion I once felt for others, but with the exception of Veronica Mars, I'm just not into them.  Reading back the above I sound like fandom fickle, but I really only have one serious fandom/show per decade.  Fandom isn't what it used to be though, and beggars can't be choosers anymore.  I have to cast a bigger net.

The last but most important thing you need to know about me is that I adore Ianto Jones.  After Jim Kirk, he is my second favorite character of all time, in my 35 years of fandom.  Wish it wasn't so, but we have no control over who we fall in love with.

I think we may have different interests in terms of ships and not a LOT of fandom overlap, though I did like Season 2 of Torchwood (mostly) and have a lot of fondness for its connection and potentiality of further fannish connection with Doctor Who. I fear that maybe we're a bit too different for you to love everything I post, but I definitely feel you on the way fandom has changed even in the past decade or so online. I'm younger, but I've been poking around online fandom since I was a wee one. I think my oldest online account I can still find is my first ff.net account which I created in 2003 when I was 12.

I just decided to pop in and say hi. It can be up to you if you wanna subscribe to each other. No pressure! This journal is just now becoming a habit for me, so you can always look at my AO3 listing to see if you'd be interested in anything up my alley at all in turn.
