it's been a couple years...
Name: Captain!
Age group: 25+
Country: USA
Subscription/Access Policy: See Here - Friends get access, anything not discourse-y or super vent-y is unlocked by default
Fandoms: *deep breath* Just. So many things. Mostly stuff that's older or niche, since I don't like the way fandom behaves nowadays so I avoid "popular" stuff. I flit in and out of fandoms I'm fixated on to often to have a set "selection" of them. ;_;
Fannish Interests: Meta, geeking out, fic, fanart, roleplay (
breakbox_muses), etc! Very adverse to people who ascribe morality to their criticism of a piece of media though (as in, "anyone who likes x must be y" and similar asinine assumptions), so maybe skip over talking to me if you do.
OTPs and Ships: Aaaaaaaa... MaxWil (Don't Starve), Dofladile (One Piece), DoflaCora (One Piece),
Favourite Movies: Godzilla (like, all of them, even the terrible ones), Lilo & Stitch, Road to El Dorado, How to Train Your Dragon
Books: Yes
Music: Electroswing mostly
Games: SPYRO, Don't Starve, Pokemon, Digimon, Palworld, TemTem, Monster Rancher, RPGMaker horror, Farming sims (Stardew, Paleo Pines, Grimshire, Sunahven, etc), Starbound, Terraria, WoW... uhhhhhh I could prob go forever lmao
Comics/Anime/Misc: Please lord mercy just look at my MAL or Anime Planet, the list is ALMOST ENDLESS
Other: No "antis" or folks who resonate with TERFy or fashy rhetoric, please. I'm a psyche student who wants to specialize in sexual psychology. My "about me" looks very intense but it's more a reflection of how surface-level most relationships are today, and missing genuine connection with other queer, fannish dorks like myself. :P

The 2019 one! I think the oldest Godzilla media I've watched to date is the 1998 U.S. remake/adaptation. (And it was my first Godzilla media, probably.)

If I may, what was your favorite part of the monsters in the 2019 movie? They did so many interesting new things with the series that confused me at first (being so used to the old stuff), but I'd love to hear from an untainted perspective, so to speak! ^^

ngl the cartoon spin-off has a special place in my heart 😆 I thought Godzilla Junior was very endearing.
Personally, I'm in the Godzilla fandom for the kaiju. 2019's KotM was I think the third in the MonsterVerse franchise and what cemented it in my mind was that there seemed to be more focus on the kaiju and their interactions/drama versus the humans and their drama. With the way they're writing the humans in MonsterVerse, I just find them way less interesting than the kaiju. I want more backstory on all the prehistoric kaiju rivalries.
On the flip side, there's Godzilla -1.0 where I was more invested in the people rather than Godzilla. I haven't watched enough of the Japanese Godzilla films to say for sure, but it might be a difference in the approach to Godzilla as a concept as a whole? Between U.S. and Japanese film franchises.

YES! I know very few people who are super invested in the humans. Even in the old movies, while the human characters were often prominent/the main story focused, they always felt so secondary to the kaiju. Godzilla -1.0 sounds similar to Shin Godzilla, then, which focuses on the failures of Japan's bureaucracy and slow-to-act government. At no point did it feel boring, though, unlike a lot of the old movies' human-segments. I was very happy that KotM focused on the kaiju!
