Name: Kutsuwamushi
Age: Early 30s
Country: Generally the US
Subscription/access policy: Some fandom stuff is locked1
Fandom interests: I'm a fandom butterfly. I've been in fandom for a long time and have collected too many fandoms to list. My very first fandom was Sailor Moon, and then I briefly passed through Evangelion before eventually ending up stuck on Gundam Wing for years (halp). Later, I found out that things other than anime exist; right now I'm reading a lot of Marvel fanfiction.
I like to talk about the things that I'm reading or watching and I'm looking for friends who have a similar outlook - not necessarily people in the same fandoms. I guess I'm just looking for fannish people. I've always been big on meta; I used to moderate fanficrants and little_details on LJ.
OTPs and ships: I don't really have OTPs, but I hang out on the slash side most of the time.
Books: Yes.
Music: I'm a huge music nerd, but I'm not in the cool, tattooed lady at the back of your late 90s record shop who recommends you obscure rock bands. I'm the painfully earnest, caffeinated college roommate trying to get you to listen to Ethiopian church music.
Games: I played a lot of Destiny and will do so again.
I like to post about: Everything. I'm just starting to post on DW again after a long absence.
1 I made the terrible mistake of leaking my pseudonym to some real life friends who don't need to know what I think about Geralt and Emhyr gettin' it on.

Date: 2017-06-19 02:40 pm (UTC)there's more info on my fandoms in my userinfo, but i love meta in general, on fandom and fanfiction etc. i miss fanficrants!
(also, i have no idea if the reference to the Tin Ujević Award in your profile means you actually read croatian poetry, but i love me some Ana Božičević)
adding you if that's okay :)

Date: 2017-06-19 02:52 pm (UTC)Tedious fact: When I was a teenager, my friends all picked which Sailor Scout they were. I wanted to be Jupiter, but the Cool Girl (TM) had already claimed her. So I claimed Uranus, and then I realized she's better anyway. (Though, I still love Jupiter to bits - I especially like the version in the live action.)
I don't actually read Croatian poetry much - that was just a Wikipedia page I landed on when I hit "random." But I'm a big fan of poetry international. I can't read Croatian; I can read a little Russian but never followed through on my dream of learning all the Slavic languages.

Date: 2017-06-19 03:14 pm (UTC)You might enjoy Poetry International. It's basically an organization that focuses on making international poetry available in English. I can't really vouch for the reliability of the translations, but I didn't notice anything wrong for the languages I do know. (Not that I really know them well enough to judge.)

Date: 2017-06-23 03:35 pm (UTC)When I got to the "fandom interests" part I wanted to do a little happy dance because Gundam Wing! Boy, I don't know about you, but I'm still a fan. I still go digging for fanfics I haven't already read. :D I won't ever give up on Gundam Wing.
I was also into Sailor Moon and Evangelion and a ton of other animes.
And then you go on and state that you are a music nerd. So, I had to ask: can I add you?
I'm also in my early thirties, completely in love with music in every way, shape or form. I'm a shameless multishipper with a truckload of ships.

Date: 2017-06-24 09:28 am (UTC)Not too long ago I was poking about on A03 and discovered that people are still writing fic for GW. I was surprised! And the writers are more experienced now, too, so there are some good ones. (I laugh at some of the things I used to read...)
My favorite GW fic is The Arrangement by Maldoror. It's one of my favorite fics ever, actually. You should check it out if you haven't read it yet. Not on A03, sadly - on maldoror_gw @ livejournal.
There is something about this terrible show that just fuels imaginations, I guess - I still sometimes consider writing for it. Though I'm really too busy right now.

Date: 2017-06-26 07:41 pm (UTC)Yes, I did exactly the same. I was actually astonished about the quality, too. I thought the fandom was dead.
(I laugh at some of the things I used to read...)
Oh, me too. When I go through my fanfic folder and pick an old fic to read, sometimes I'm really cringing. lol Some of the things I've liked in the past definitely don't sit well with me today.
I've heard of The Arrangement and I know Maldoror is a damn good writer. I loved all of her Duo/Heero fics. And that's the thing: if I'm not mistaken The Arrangement is a Heero/Wufei fic, and I just can't read a non-Duo pairing. But if, one day, I can overcome this I will definitely check it out.
I've always wanted to write a GW fic, but I've never got around to do it. Maybe one day.

Date: 2017-06-26 09:18 pm (UTC)Duo used to be my favorite, but Maldoror's Wufei is just right up my alley. And the dynamic in The Arrangement is one of my favorite fucked-up but ultimately optimistic taks on emotionally repressed romance that I've ever read.
She also wrote a Duo/Wufei fic called "Freeport" that's excellent. Very plotty and original.
