Recurring posts might help. They also nail down your main topics so folks know what your blog is mostly about.

[community profile] getting_started and [community profile] reddit_refugees are good for newcomers. [community profile] fandomcalendar is a place to find events. Also watch for communities that post multiple events, like [community profile] allbingo (a new fest each month) or [community profile] smallfandomfest (events for different small fandoms).

>> and I thought maybe having some more people to follow/interact with would help to incentivize myself to hang out here more.<<

That's an excellent plan.

You can also subscribe to communities and their posts will appear on your Reading page. Use the Interests page, [community profile] followfriday, or [site community profile] dw_community_promo to find ones you might like.

>> Still too new to know exactly what <<

Look at other people's sticky posts or profile page to see what kinds of things they are saying. It'll give you an idea of your options. A blanket statement or transformative works statement is about how other folks can use their fanworks. Some people post a friending policy. You don't have to set a stance immediately, you can think about possibilities until you decide what you want.

>> Although there are definitely some metas <<

For meta, consider [community profile] meta_warehouse and [community profile] marchmetamatterschallenge.
