I was so happy when Chomper was introduced to the main cast!

Not gonna lie, it took me time to warm up to Chomper—I first watched the fifth movie before I did the second movie, so I was essentially introduced to him out of context; that being said, how sweet and soft-hearted he was felt more like a betrayal to my conception of the sharpteeth at the time…which was, of course, part of the point (kinda), but preteen me didn’t like said point (about predators and prey being all buddy-buddy) anyways. Though, the subtitled sharptooth dialogue did pique my interest to see in any case.

Though by the time I started looking into the TV series, I’d mellowed out enough about “muh realism” to appreciate him—especially in that one episode where he ended up talking theropod-to-theropod with one of the recurring antagonists. I’d say I remained ambivalent overall, though.

…Also I just found out that apparently Ikue Ōtani voiced him in the fifth movie’s Japanese dub. Over the years, I’ve come to realize what a small world my childhood media palette comprises…

Then again, I suppose one is out there for anything, though they tend to be rife with... what I believe you're describing, among other issues.

My main pain point was not being the biggest ego in the room by far—I jest, in part, but there was one mod in particular who would just not shut up about his crackpot Saurophaganax speculations…

…Not that I could definitively dismantle said speculations, of course (and I couldn’t muster up the will to even try and poke holes after enough heel-digging on his part), but it got increasingly tiring seeing someone doing basically the opposite of what Horner did for T. rex—that is, pile extreme estimate upon extreme estimate to peddle his already questionable taxon of a comfort theropod as the definitive biggest, most badass sauropod-slayer to ever apparently overhunt and subsequently starve itself into extinction—and then use that much as justification to even further centralize the server’s goings-on around whatever self-aggrandizing antics he and the rest of his clique(’s characters) wanted to get up to.

He also often touted that he was pursuing a paleontology degree as an avenue to prove all those assertions himself, so I have to wonder how that’s going by now. Petty as I am, I hope for the worst.

I still miss indie tumblr RP blogs. So much less pressure, and I met some truly talented writers back in the day!

Man, for how much I found myself eventually (and admittedly, a bit unfairly) bristling against tumblr, one of my favorite things to tune into were those nifty little in-character “ask” blogs—especially those courtesy of fellow bronies back in the day (which were how I was introduced to tumblr in the first place)…including a few especially notorious ones that I honestly should not have ingested from such a young age for how formative they might’ve ended up being for me. Ah well.

Gotta say though, the music for that one went hard too. I mean, really! Very Pokemon-esque and adventure-y.

Tremolo Hunter, When Dark Sparks Fly, and Category Six are up there on my favorite tracks to have come out of the DS—pretty sure the latter two especially played a large part in keeping me pumped up as I kept bashing my head against the final boss.

not a lot of terribly memorable characters though, methinks. Maybe that was why? xD

Yeah, that tracks—even for how much I remember Champions’ twist villain reveal absolutely flooring me as a kid, I keep forgetting there even was one nowadays.

I keep forgetting there was a sequel... I hope it's as wild a ride as the first! If you do write on it, I'll be thrilled to read.

Duly noted; I’ll keep it in mind, thanks lmao

Dude is super talented... him and Dead Sound. Paleoart is so cool! And I hadn't even realized Fred's stuff was on Wikipedia! He really is talented.

Talented indeed; wholly agreed on the Dead Sound shoutout—artistry of the whole Dinosauria series aside, “The Last Tyrant” genuinely gutted me in a way I thought I’d grown past…

Speaking of talent, the ever-prolific RJ Palmer definitely has my respect in that regard—especially for that freakish edge to a lot of his fiction reinterpretations in particular. And on the topic of reinterpretation, for as much of a stick-in-the-mud as he sometimes comes across to me, Unnatural History Channel provides a proverbial smorgasbord of food for thought when it comes to creature design.

Now... hopefully I formatted that one right! xD

Nothing looks off to me, at least! And I suppose now we’re about even as to the delay, heh
