Hello, fellow travellers! I'm grateful I can nail my scrap of parchment to this venerable door. Perhaps we'll find that our interests and obessions partially align, and take it from there - in fannish giddiness, temporary seriousness, and the occasional rant/rave? Let's see.

Name: [personal profile] liriaen
Country: Germany
Subscription/Access Policy: I'm fairly easygoing. If we have some similar interests, feel free to add or substract, but be advised that here'll be LGBTQIA* things, anything under the rainbow really, and if that's something you have a hard time with, then please save us the grief.

Main Fandoms: European Renaissance / 15th & 16th century [I have a well-documented Borgia obsession, but I can't say I'm a fan of the various TV series; history is whoa enough I think ;) - okay, caveat: I have a very soft spot for Souryo Fuyumi's "Cesare" manga and used to be enchanted by You Higuri's "Cantarella" before the mangaka pulled the "rocks fall, everone dies"-option] ... Bible slash... Extreme metal music RPF... Art history...
Other Fandoms: no longer active, but still appreciating: Blace of the Immortal, Samurai Champloo, Peacemaker Kurogane, Fullmetal Alchemist, the twisted stuff Hiroaki Samura comes up with [although, sometimes... he's a bit much],
Fannish Interests: devouring. reading. writing. squealing. flailing. travelling in their footsteps. the usual!
OTPs and Ships: Cesare Borgia/Miguel de Corella (both in Souryo Fuyumi's version and as an idle historic speculation), or any other pairing that tickles me... Used to be Harry/Draco, and I still have a soft spot for them, as well for Ron/Draco.

Favourite Movies: help, I can't remember! Fight Club, The Name of the Rose (hasn't aged well, but)...
TV Shows: Rome, Mad Men, The Sopranos, The Mighty Boosh, The Tudors (file under "guilty pleasure"... I know I can't rightly badmouth the Borgia series and not apply the same standards to the Tudors, but there you go)
Books: most stuff by William Gibson, Thomas Pynchon, Hillary Mantel, Salman Rushdie, Umberto Eco... and I think Michel Foucault is always right. Always.
Music: 15th/16th/17th century music (think Monteverdi, Desprez, Tallis)... music from Mali... music from the lowest pits of hell... drone, doom, black metal, a little death metal (nothing too technical; just gimme the dumb kind)... Nick Cave in his various permutations... post punk, hardcore, punk, neofolk, seriously nasty industrial, new wave, dark wave, oh and Benjamin Biolay can read the Paris phone book for me.

What I post: RL stuff interspersed with fic and idle musings, mostly in English, with occasional outbursts in German. I'll happily converse with you in English, German, but will also read French and Flemish.
What I'm hoping for: meeting open-minded people with a (dark) sense of humour and adventurous souls
My fics: Better and more recent ones are at archiveofourown.org/users/liriaen/pseuds/liriaen (I'm slowly adding older stuff there), a whole lot of ancient stuff in German is over at www.fanfiktion.de/u/liriaen. There's also www.fanfiction.net/u/1299605/liriaen which has fics even I had forgotten (with good reason, too).

Hi! *waves*

Oh, it sounds like we have a fair amount of overlap in our interests (even if not in actual fandoms). And of course Foucault is always right or on the right track :)

Pleased to meet'cha! Alcoholic cocktail or none-alcoholic? I think I could whip up something with chartreuse. Or freshly squeezed appled juice.

I'll take the juice and fetch the cookies from the mental car :)

It's a vintage Jaguar E-Type, but in red - so three points out of four? :) You're good!

ah the renaissance! I'll add you-- sometimes I post some Renaissance history or literature.

Ooh, I don't technically have that much overlap in fandoms and stuff with you (except that I have accidentally been accumulating renaissance instruments that I'm going to need to learn how to play at some point) but I am super interested in reading your thoughts!

I'm a bassoon player in my regular life, so I've got a rackett and a dulcian that fell into my lap and I need to figure out how to make reeds for before the pandemic allows the concert where I'm supposedly going to debut them.

I have actually played some gut string before-- I played violin as a child, though I haven't in a long time, and a distant relative by marriage-and-now-divorce owned a relatively prestigious string shop in the UK. When we went to visit, he let me scratch away a bit on a quarter size Stradivarious stringed with gut. (While holding the scroll, as if I was suddenly going to accidentally fling it across the room 😂)

Ooh, that group sounds great... maybe I should contact them to ask if they have reed measurements, ha.

And yeah-- the rackett is crazy because it's SUCH a low sound coming from such a small (on the outside) instrument!
