Hi! I'm a twitter refugee trying this place on for size (I wasn't around for the old livejournal days and my other main site is tumblr, but dreamwidth looked fun, so here I am). hoping to find some friends! I haven't used this site much yet, but I'm hoping to be more active here

About me: i'm a fanfic writer (and aspiring original writer someday), and I also draw and paint sometimes. You can find my fics at amarisllis, and I'm thinking about maybe making a community here to use as a backup archive for my fics too (but I haven't yet). I'm also on twitter and tumblr at amarisllis and amarisllis Other than fandom, I read like crazy and I'll probably talk a lot about stuff I'm reading.

I mostly post about: I'm not really sure yet! I'll probably post about my fics, writing, the fandoms I'm currently into, the books I'm reading, games I'm playing, ships I like, plus some personal stuff mixed in. I like rambling about my thoughts/analyses on things, so you'll get some of those too. I'll post a mix of SFW and NSFW probably.

Main Fandoms (for right now, subject to change): My Hero Academia, Star Wars, Genshin Impact, Sk8 the Infinity, anime/manga generally

Other Fandoms: MCU, soulsborne, lots of other video games, other animanga, good omens, supernatural, kingdom hearts, doctor who, books (is that a fandom? im making it a fandom). there's probably more here that I'm forgetting

Fannish Interests: fanfic, fanart, fanworks in general. I read a lot of fanfics in general, but my favorite tropes are hurt/comfort and angst with a happy ending, injury recovery, getting together (but I'll read a lot of different types, i've got a bookmark list almost 1K strong). I generally tend to stay away from dead dove-type content tough (ie. incest, minor/adult ships, loli/shota etc). i'm making an exchange letter on my dw page at some point that will go into more specifics about what i like and what i don't if you want to talk fanfic sometime!

Welcome to Dreamwidth! I can recommend the community books if you're looking to share stuff you've read or find new things to read! Gaming might be another fun one to check out ouo Some groups haven't had activity in a while, but don't let that stop you from posting there! We're always happy to get some more activity in here.

hi!!! thanks, i'll check those out!!! they seem pretty cool :) dreamwidth seems quieter than what i'm used to so far, but im kinda liking this old school blogging vibe since i wasn't around for the livejournal heyday.

It definitely is much lower-activity than like, tumblr or Twitter, but I find you can also often get a deeper level of engagement here when you do get someone interacting with your stuff, which is nice. Hope you have a fun time here!

honestly i kind of like that it's quieter than some of the bigger social medias... i missed the livejournal times, but i kind of like the more old school traditional blogging sort of feel. twitter/tumblr is good for short form stuff and like stray thoughts, but this seems like a fun quiet little space to put some of my thoughts in long form (and also find a different, somewhat more mellow (it seems) group than the average twitter user lol.

Definitely true! DW does a lot better with long-form text posting than most current social media sites. And because of the comment structure, I feel like people are more willing and able to leave in-depth comments. And with the slower pace here I feel like it's...less stressful? Like your comment can never go viral and end up being passed around by a bunch of people who don't have the original context, yk? It definitely feels mellower here than on Twitter lol

honestly, i feel like i need a little mellow right now lmao. it definitely seems less stressful so far! seems a lot harder to create the level of toxicity that twitter (and even tumblr really) can generate for sure

hello, welcome to dreamwidth! hope you enjoy it here, I've recently gotten back into the site after about 10 years of not blogging so it's definitely an adjustment compared to sites like tumblr/twitter.
